Nothingness

I have walked into
A realm of nothingness
All around me is darkness
With no light to guide me

I grope for something
For that which I cannot see
But all eludes my grasp
And I remain empty

I try to find my way
To escape from this emptiness
Bues these walls of blankness
Close in upon me

It clings to my flesh
Its thickness is stifling
Its blackness, utterly bleak
Its depth, desolately infinite

I choose each step carefully
Attempting not to fall
For fear the nothingness
Will devour me

Where is my rainbow
To light the way
With its brilliant spectrum
Of glowing hope?

Where is my God
Whose love brings
Comfort and peace
To fill the void within?

Where is my friend
To hold my hand
And guide me through
This world of despair?

I can no longer fight
These numberous things
I cannot see
For the power is not mine

I will close my eyes
Against the darkness
I will look for the light
That You have placed within me

I will follow this ember
To Your feet
In hopes you will
Ignite a fire in my heart
