"My Song Amidst the Rain"

My hope is that I am able to share with you what God has so 
graciously given to me. 
 

I SING IN THE RAIN

One cold, misty day
When I was nine years old
I walked hand-in-hand
Through a wooded forest
With my strong, gentle father.
"Listen to the stillness," he whispered.
"Stillness makes beautiful music."
Suddenly he pointed to a tiny bird
Perched on a limb of a bending tree.
"The bird doesn't know we're here
But he's singing his heart out."
Then smiling down at me he asked
"Could you sing in the rain
If nobody heard you but God?"

Lord, though many years have passed
Since I walked with my father
I have never forgotten his question.
Today I am alone--
Yet not alone, for YOU are here.
Though my heart is grief-drenched
I know You are worthy of praise.
Help me, please help me
To sing my feeble song in the rain
Though nobody hears but You.
